Russell commenced his Stockbroking career with Hartley Poynton in 1994 in the Trust Division and by the year 2000 Russell had earned a position on the Executive Council.  In early 2001 Russell was invited to join the newly formed Euroz Limited. In 2004 Russell was appointed as an Associate Director and in 2006 appointed as an Executive Director of Euroz Securities Ltd. In 2013 Russell was appointed as an Executive Director of Euroz Limited, where he remained until the merger of Euroz Hartleys was completed in October 2021.

Russell commenced his Stockbroking career as a Private Client adviser where he worked until 2003, from 2003 until 2022 Russell worked as an Institutional Adviser where he was an integral part of numerous corporate and institutional transactions. In July 2022 Russell formed a team with Simon Yeo where they focus on advising Sophisticated and Wholesale Investors on Western Australian based Industrial and Resource companies, whilst still advising a number of institutions and corporate clients.

In November 2022 Russell was appointed to the Board of Westoz Funds Management Ltd and its Investment Committee. At the same time Westoz Funds Management Ltd launched the unlisted Western Australian Resources Fund.
